Daughters of Persia celebrates one of the great cultures of the world through the eyes of its women. Three award-winning and celebrated performers, Tamsin Greig, Shaparak Khorsandi and Shala Nyx narrate a colourful and moving script by the Oscar-nominated screenwriter William Nicholson (Gladiator, Les Misérables), bringing to life the stories of its extraordinary women from history, literature and mythology.
A distinguished trio of musicians, Margaret Fingerhut (piano), Bradley Creswick (violin) and Guy Johnston (cello) perform a range of dazzling and evocative compositions by Farhad Poupel, Reza Vali, Aftab Darvishi and Golnoush Khaleghi as well as much-loved classics by Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel, Prokofiev and Pablo Casals. A highlight of the show is the UK premiere of a new work The Laughter of Gordafarid for narrator and piano by Farhad Poupel.
