Islington Festival: Edward Elgar meets Oscar Wilde

14 Dagmar Passage, London , N1 2DN

Description

Welcome to the 6th Islington Festival of Music and Art - titled "the words beneath the sound", celebrating the union of two of the most human creations - music and literature. Throughout the 10-day Festival, we will be exploring pieces of music that took inspiration from poems, novels, plays and folk stories. We will go on a journey through the worlds of William Shakespeare, Leo Tolstoy, Oscar Wilde, ETA Hoffman, Dante and others, all embodied into incredible music, both familiar - like Schubert's Death and the Maiden - and also unfairly obscure - such as Dora Pejačević's Piano Quartet.
