A night celebrating the life and work of Jason Molina. Presented in conjunction with his longtime record label, Secretly Canadian, the evening will feature a screening of Farewell Transmission with an introduction from the films producer, Deeper Into Movies. The final part of the night will see a live performance of Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co) songs by Brown Horse with a supporting cast of special guest performers are Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Eaves Wilder, Elanor Moss, Marco Pini (RIP Magic), Max Winter (Songs: Ohia), Naima Bock, and Owen Williams (The Tubs).
Brown Horse make twangy and thoughtful indie rock, delicately arranged, but unafraid of building a yowling wall of guitars, accordion, and pedal steel. The Norwich, England-based group, which is the joint project of four songwriters (Patrick Turner, Emma Tovell, Nyle Holihan & Rowan Braham), released their third album, Total Dive, earlier this year, just ahead of their first North American tour. Distorted, teary-eyed and country-tinged, this is music for long lonely drives and late, late nights in strange places.
