Every movement tells a story.
Discover two celebrated works that showcase ballet at is most joyful, profound and moving.

Dances at a Gathering:
Following speculation of the ballet’s narratives and meanings by critics and audiences during its premiere, Robbins wrote to the Ballet Review, stating unequivocally that ’There are no stories to any of the dances in Dances at a Gathering. There are no plots and no roles. The dancers are themselves dancing with each other to that music in that space.’

Songs of the Earth:
In this 1965 work of sculptural beauty, MacMillan's elegiac and earthbound choreography expresses metaphysical themes in Gustav Mahler's score, such as the transience of life and the imminence of death, drawing on 8th-century Chinese poems that inspired both composer and choreographer.
